Log - Dee Light – Trip up North – 2006

 .. once we completed our Little Loop Trip on Sunday July 09th we were busy getting ready for our trip up North ..

.. we will be heading up North on Thursday the 13th and will be up there until August 01st .. we are planning to spend some time in Barron with Marcus and Fran, we have a wedding to attend in Eau Claire on Saturday July 22nd, we are planning to visit our Home Port up North in Wabasha Minnesota, etc and after the wedding we are also planning to take a side trip to the South Dakota Badlands ( Mount Rushmore ) etc ..

.. this is a Log of our Trip North .. we anticipate that it will consist of more photos than words ..

Week of July 13^th 2006

.. on Thursday morning Bernie and Barbara ( SITTING DUCK ) brought us to the ‘new’ Fort Myers Airport and we headed North .. once we made it to Minneapolis we headed to the Mall Of America to do a little shopping .. we ended up shopping until Betty ‘shopped until she dropped’ and Marv found the Cold Stone Creamery .. and we also found the World Famous Norwegian store Lake Wobegon USA ..

.. on Friday morning we headed directly to Barron Wisconsin to see my daughter  ( Jewel ) and her family .. when we arrived at their Home in Barron we were greeted at their Door by Jewel, Marcus and Fran ( Bob was at work ) .. we were ‘delighted’ to find out that Marcus has taken up my passion of photography and  we enjoyed seeing how Fran is developing her own ‘Miss Independent’ personality .. we had a great day !! ..

.. in Northern Wisconsin Summer comes annually between July 24^th and the 27^th .. that is on the years that Summer comes to Northern Wisconsin .. some years Summer just never makes it up here ..

on Saturday the entire Country was experiencing record highs .. Summer has made it early to Northern Wisconsin this year .. it was so HOT in Barron ( 90s ) that we decided to head for the Barron Pool and Park to cool off and we had a great afternoon ..  later for dinner Jewel and Betty put together a Tomato, Garlic, Cheese, etc Pie that was just great .. and Bob served us up Ice Cream that was a deelightfull way to polish off the meal ..

.. on Sunday morning at 01:00 am I came down with the Flu .. UGH !!! .. it was not until about 07:30 pm before I was able to get out of Bed and make it to a Chair .. sooooo we were unable to any time at all with my Daughter and family at all .. but there is hope as by 09:00 pm I was getting hungry for Ice Cream .. Betty headed out and found a large container and was it GOOD !! .. but by later in the evening Betty was starting to come down with the Flu also .. UFFFFDA !! ..

.. by Monday morning I was feeling much better .. Betty had a long night much like mine the night before and needed MUCH rest .. so we elected to spend another day in Barron .. I was able to make it to see Jewel and family a couple of times during the day and Betty stayed right in bed all day .. I went to the Diner across the Street from the Motel and got some Chicken Noodle Soup and Ice Cream for dinner .. it hit the spot ..

.. on Tuesday morning Betty was feeling a little better and my system was taking a step back .. YUCK !! .. we did end up driving to Eau Claire and once we checked into the Hotel we both headed straight for the bed .. to rest !! .. we cancelled out on all of the commitments that we had made for the last two days .. UGH !! .. after making a trip to Walgreen’s we started on drugs that seamed to help ..

.. Wednesday .. now that we are on ‘drugs’ we feel MUCH better and we should be able to get back ‘on track’ with our anticipated plans ..  Eau Claire was my Home Town since birth so it is always interesting to check out the changes since my last visit .. we had lunch with my Mother at Sweetwater’s and later we had dinner with Bud and Sue at Applebee’s ..
